ROADTRIP of the day:

Today we’re off to the desert to visit the city of Alamogordo, New Mexico; the site of such infamous events as the Atari video game burial of 1983 and the Trinity text explosion of the atomic bomb in connection with the Manhattan Project in July of 1945. Alamogordo sits in the Tularosa Basin which has been occupied for at least 11,000 years. The Mescalero Apache occupied the territory until the arrival of Spanish explorers in the 1500’s. Present day Alamogordo is largely connected to the military and space exploration industries; but it’s also home to McGinn’s Pistachio Tree Ranch which gives us the World’s Largest Pistachio built in 2008 and standing proudly at 30’ tall.
